From there programming is pretty easy, although if you have never done it before it can seem intimidating.

You can pretty much use any programming cable for any radio to program the 8900R, I use one from the Baofeng UV3R but have to wire an adapter to fit the 3.5mm Stereo Jack., also you will have to confirm the TX, and RX locations on the 3.5mm plug.

Do not worry, try it one way, if it does not work, just swap.

It will always be the tip and ring connectors on the plug, you will just have to get the RX and TX to the right one.
